2nd regional event in Poland- Startup Wednesday with sharing economy

The event took place on 24nd October 2018 at  “Przestrzeń from Facebook”(Koszykowa 61, Warsaw). 

 

The event started by presenting the SharEEN project. It consisted of presentations of four speakers. The first one was about teaching English “on demand” through on line platform with native speakers from all over the world. Startup is raising the popularity and continuously is opening its branches in other cities. Later, WeThe Crowd  - an interactive agency specialising in social solutions presented the strategies useful for young, inexperienced start-ups that are planning to use the society on its daily work. Next presentation was about the biggest foreign on line exchange platform in Poland. During the last presentation it was revealed how to create the best coworking in Poland.

 

The main goal of the event was to identify the initiatives and platforms operating in sharing economy and present the possibilities of development and financing them among the participants - potential project participants. During the meeting it was presented how to run business effectively  - innovative business model for start ups, presentation of success stories. The event was a part of the meetings entitled “Startup Wednesday” organised by Startup Academy in a open formula way gathering mostly startups . Involving the stakeholders beyond Lubelskie region we reached a huge number of participants.

 

                                       

Conclusions:
(main problems and barriers detected)
Not clear Polish regulations in the terms of sharing economy (e.g. legal framework of the contract between the provider and the platform) 
Lack of awareness about the benefits of sharing economy initiatives among potential users
Fear of copying an innovative idea by bigger company recognisable on the market
Insufficient financial instruments available for young firms
Need of trainings on marketing especially digital marketing

The campaigns supporting and promoting the sharing economy, raising awareness presenting benefits for the citizens, success stories etc.
Easier access for financial support for sharing economy initiatives, dedicated accelerating programmes with fast track for a scaling up
Trainings/networking events focused on innovative, IT aspect of the platforms, safety  of transactions and flexible methods of payments on the platforms,  confidentiality of data of platform users 
Development of programmes focused on marketing skills (Fb campaigns, adwords, social media) 
 

Shareen

SharEEN is an European pilot project on “Opportunities for European Entrepreneurs in the Sharing Economy”, co-funded by the European Commission under the Call: 251-G-GRO-PPA-16-9953. Grant agreement SI2.763745. The objective of SharEEN is to identify and link-up with collaborative economy platforms, exchange experience with all relevant stakeholders and help European SMEs, social enterprises and other relevant actors to exploit the opportunities offered by the sharing economy.  In particular, the project aims at building knowledge and capacity among Enterprise Europe Network partners’ staff and other stakeholders on sharing economy, and help them define and deploy supporting services for their SMEs.

 

SharEEN map of regional sharing economy initiatives

The map is based on the results of the surveying activity carried out by the SharEEN project in 2018. It includes a brief geo-referenced description of a set of sharing economy initiatives, platforms and companies, operating in the eight European regions covered by the project.
